The centennial is being marked with one dollar dogs Monday, Aug. 26 which is customer appreciation day at all three Walter's locations, in Mamaroneck, White Plains, and Stamford.

The contest is at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 937 Palmer Ave. in Mamaroneck. There will be live music and all age fun activities.

Walter's Hot Dogs opened in 1919 on Palmer Avenue. The building itself was established in 1928. It is a copper-roofed Chinese pagoda and a National Register of Historic Places designated landmark.

Their hot dogs are a blend of beef, pork, and veal and come split down the middle, grilled in house-made "secret sauce" and served on a toasted bun with Walter's signature mustard.

Walter's two other locations are at 186 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains and at 200 Commons Park South in Stamford.
